The beginning of the end...?

Ummm... I am having those weird feelings again... Maybe it's due to the time of the month. I am leaving the country for a few days soon but I don't have a good feeling about it. I am going on a holiday and usually I would've packed days or weeks earlier but it's 2 days till departure day and I haven't packed. Hmmm... the word departure here sounds so gloomy, doesn't it? I don't know. Must be mid-life crisis again. There's some weird intuition that I might not make it back...No, not because I have any clairvoyance or precognition powers but I don't know why I have these negative thoughts. I am usually happy-go-lucky, but there's a weird feeling that my charms won't work this time.

Actually, I can't possibly go yet... There are still so many things I have yet to do... I haven't bought enough insurance, and... I haven't used up all my money yet... and worse, my beneficiary is going with me on this trip... Oh gosh, I need to send my will to my lawyer again.... just in case.

Hmmm....Need to slap myself a bit... or perhaps go for a cold shower...(editor's note: Eh, I thought cold shower is to reduce horniness?) and wake up a little from this silly self-inflicted depression of mine...

Oh, oh....I suddenly remember to answer one of the questions that many have asked me but I never got around answering,... The question: Why do I blog?... This question came from both young and old, especially those digital immigrants, or non-technology savvy people.

Well, the answer is simple... I am a verbose person. I like to talk... I like to write... I like to share... I like to be detail... I like to express myself or explain things explicitly... . And most importantly, if I ever leave this world in a sudden, people won't be lost for words for my obituary. People can't say they never got to know me... because by reading my blog, you would've gotten to know who I am... well, at least 50%...

This is such a gloomy entry. Think I will end it here... The End... (pun intended) hahahhah

Roller Blades? At this age?

I can't believe I did it... Am I having a mid-life crisis?? Ha ha, I don't know but I sure had hell of a fun time when I did it. Umm... can't say the same for S though... She's good at it... and definitely enjoyed it... until somehow she decided she wanted to try something new... the brakes... and she ended up landing on her knees and then later her bum... Oppsy Daisy... but she's fine or so I hope... coz she keeps blaming me for her predicament... and wanted me to carry her to the car or piggy back her home etc etc... But I am sure she'll be fine... Age is on her side... (She's 3 years younger, so should have better recovery rate, eh?)

Earlier during a tea session with the guys, unsure whether it was out of care or jeer, they discouraged me 100% saying that I shouldn't be doing this at my age... Mr.MyHump reminded me that I would feel out of place with all the school kids (since it's the school holidays). LV taunted that I shouldn't scare the kids and Key warned that it's dangerous to do this as it takes a longer time to heal at our age. MC even gave me examples of his lady friend who had a cut on her face while roller blading! MissD24 was so afraid that I would force her to go with me that she quickly went home. I almost chickened out but then I thought, "Hey, if I don't do this, I don't think I'd ever do this again. Who'd be spontaneous (or courageous) enough to go with me when I am much older?"

Boy, am I glad that I went ahead with my plans...as it turns out that we had the whole rink to ourselves! The other 2 skaters were internal workers trying to either practise or show off their stunts. As S and I skate around the rink, with the wind blowing on our faces and hair, the non-stop flashes from the disco globe, the loud but not irritating hit songs blaring from the speakers, I can't help but giggle to myself, and think of yesteryears when I had to sneak out to go roller skating... even though the roller disco, as they were called in those days, was just opposite my house! Memories of winter ice skating in Oxford comes to mind too (I can't even remember the name of the Vietnamese guy (Hung?) who took us to the rink).

I can never forget all those falls and injuries that was part and parcel of the skating outings... the worse one resulted in a slipped-disc on my backbone where my mom thought I was going to be paralysed! (Actually, I was almost paralysed by her nagging and grounding). And the most embarassing was falling down in a mini skirt at Sunway skating rink. It was embarassing because I screamed and the DJ commented that "Oh, another one bite the dust!" and spins that song just to spite me... (Just for the record, I fell on my knees so there wasn't any show to see... And who'd dare to see anyway when I had a menacing guy friend with me threatening to dig the eyeballs out from any roving eyes. ha ha)

Anyway, I am glad I survived all those falls and picked up after myself quite well. And I am also glad that I didn't fall today (so as not to give Key the pleasure of saying "I told you so.") . The best thing about that brief 35 minutes of non-stop skating, (besides burning 300 calories), is the laughters and the tingling cheery feeling that I get inside; just knowing that I can still skate, reminiscing the old times and of course, jokes about the pathetic bump on S's behind... (hahaha pun intended).

Ok ok... enough of high. My adrenaline must be working overtime tonight, disrupting my metabolic rate and sleep pattern. It's already 3 am (and Big B is starting to protest). Goodnite... need to conserve my energy for the Indiana Jones movie tonight and Karaoke tomorrow night... Ahhhh... the days are just packed....

Happy Birthday Bryan

May 19, 2008
Last minute preparations... last minute invitations... but luckily the 2 chefs were very agile in cooking up a few signature dishes, Hakka Char Yuk, Hainan Chicken Rice, Curry Chicken, BBQ Chicken Wings, (hahah so many chicken dishes - last minute mar).... and my family was around to help me wash up later... All in all, it was a fun night for the children ... and I am very thankful to all the adults who came to make Bryan's birthday a memorable one... even though we gave out last minute invitations... Very "pei min"... a big Thank You to all of you...

Bryan's birthday again

Hmmm... I feel rather guilty that I have somewhat stopped writing about Bryan when it was he who gave me the first topic to write about. I started writing during my after-birth confinement period when I had basically nothing to do, and having a high metabolic mind makes it difficult for me to keep idle.

So this blog will be dedicated to this cheeky boy... and what appropriate timing, the 6th Anniversary since my first piece of writing.

I was trying to look for his birthday pictures and felt pretty bad that I have lost some of them. (Perhaps not lost, just not archived as prior to my digital camera, most pictures were film based and I don't have a scanner.) Yes, I have thousands and thousands of them but somehow, I didnt label and keep them, thus, I couldnt do a complete pictorial chronology of his birthday parties. Nevertheless, I'll just make do of what I have...
(*Note: This year's pictures have yet to be taken. Birthday is on Monday!)

Happy Birthday, Bryan.... May you grow up to be a happy, healthy, weathly, wise, respectable, and fine gentleman. :P

Baby love, hugs and kisses from me...

Whining about my wine tasting experience - "wine-ding" up in the toilet bowl

I cannot believe how the alcoholic… errrr… workaholic me managed to drag myself to work today after the wine tasting outing yesterday. Was seriously contemplating an MC (Medical Leave) or EL (Emergency Leave) as my whole body was aching and lethargic due to lack of sleep. My lack of sleep was not due to a late night. In fact, we wrapped up around 9:45pm and I was ready for bed by 11:30pm. Before you think it’s a typo, the time stated is correct – it was a half hour drive home and you must understand that we women take a long time to undo all the make up we’ve done in the morning… Ok, the secret is out… You no longer have to wonder why women hog the bathroom in the morning and also when they return home.

Anyway, my lack of sleep was due to a premature hangover. Was already suffering from a splitting headache while driving home. I don’t think it was the amount of wine that we drank (only tasted 8 out of 9 wines served) but the mixture and the pace that made my body react so positively to the alcoholic beverage. Actually MissTry2BTough here is allergic to alcohol but due to my curious nature, I relentlessly challenged my body until the system gave in and accepted alcohol without giving me a terrible rash. Occasionally, my body throws a tantrum and gives me a headache, body ache, stomach churn, diarrhea, nausea etc…And yesterday was major tantrum day and I suffered the symptoms all at the same time. Earlier, one of the drinking mates taught me a new trick. He said, “Do you know that hangover is caused by dehydration? I’ve never had a hangover if I drink 3 glasses of water before I sleep.” I tried the trick (but can only drink up to 1.5 glasses before being too full and had to lie down to rest). And what happened subsequently was not something this Miss Try2BTough had expected.

At around 4am, Miss Try2BTough drowsily but hastily, ran to the bathroom, bumping her legs on the chair and the bed side and woke Mr. B on the way, and started to vomit. Yeah, gross. And mother of all surprises, the puke was all clear. My body rejected all the water! And Mr. B, witnessing this, gave me a weird stare and questioned, “You can’t possibly be pregnant, can you?

Hmm… so much for, “Are you ok, honey?” Also equally surprising, is that my headache subsided after the puke and I caught 40 winks, and I am able to come to work without a terrible hangover. Maybe his water trick did work after all. He probably just didn’t mention that you need to puke out all the water.

Oh, I can’t resist sharing another thing I learnt yesterday. It’s amazing how my every outing seems to widen my horizons and enhanced my knowledge. I mean, at this age, it’s amazing that I still have the capability or the capacity to learn ahaha…

I am no wine connoisseur, but here’s a tip to act like one when the occasion requires it. When tasting wine, the 3 basic things to look out for are the colour, the nose and the palate. The colour should be clear and aroma should be good to your liking and of course the taste should be appetizing to you. And you often see people swirling their wine glasses. Yeah, perhaps they do it to look cool but actually there’s a purpose to it. Swirling actually airs the wine and the air brings out the aroma in the wine to better tease your nose which in turn will enhance your wine experience. So, now we know… Did I say it like a pro?

A gay night out...

As I tried to wake from the drowsiness that encompass my intoxicated body, vague memories of the previous night in the smoke filled lounge of Frangipani began to cloud my heavy, fuzzy head.

I really don't recall much but here are some vague highlights:

* MC and StheBuggerGirl die die wanna bring me to the gay bar FRANGIPANI even though I wanna go dancing it out at ALOHA.

* MC brought a guy friend while I brought a girlfriend (StheBuggerGirl)

* MC refused to walk beside me the whole night, making me suspect that he's gay, (but he later explained that it's because he didn't want me to outshine him....haha)

* First time I see SOOOO MANY GUYS in a club - so many that the GUYS outnumbered GIRLS.

*First time I see "men" entering the ladies with ease… And they have every right to do so. I even have to open the door to check the sign to see if I had entered the wrong powder-room.

*It felt comfortable and safe in the arms of StheBuggerGirl… And she even held my hand when we walked across the dance floor…

All in all, it was a good eye opening experience for me... amazed at the huge community but at peace with the knowledge that they have a place where they can chill and be themselves.

The power of IM in motivating work moods

Recently we have installed an internal IM software into our work environment. It's suppose to create a fast P2P environment for us to talk to each other, distribute files, discuss issues at ease - all at our fingertips...without having to leave our workstation. However, our "HP* club" have already found a creative use for it. It's a fast stress reliever for us whenever we feel bored of working... Before you think the HP club members are slackers, please be reminded that this kind of stress relievers are very necessary for our modern technology savvy society because we live in a big, never ending, deadline chasing, pressure cooker...

*HP here does not have any association with Hewlett Packard in any way. It stands for Hate P* Club, where P is a person whom everyone just loves to hate, or in the words of the founder, "His behavior makes you just cannot NOT hate him."

Here's a glimpse of our short stress reliever session:

MC [2:41 PM]: TeaKing AH TeaKing

MC [2:42 PM]: need your favourite... I mean favour... In order not to touch the PC guy, Sean's "tai pei"(thigh), can you tell me "fei jai"'s (fatty's) name ar?.... I need Chinese editor for my PC but I can't do that without administrator log on

TeaKing [2:44 PM]: fei chai on leave today...

MC [2:44 PM]: not necessary today ger.... can be tomorrow or next week de

MC [2:47 PM]: ok ok ... correction , Shape Back Side

Kelly [4:17 PM]: Wei wei wei who put the RUUMS party ticket on my table?

LV[4:19 PM]: from Shape Back Side

Kelly[4:19 PM]: haahaha how come he gets these kind of invitations one?

LV [4:19 PM]: he want to invite you to the dance party

Mother's Day @ Lala Chong

SAT 3 MAY 08 - Celebrated Mother's day @ La La Chong at Terminal 3 Subang… (I know, I know… you’d all say “Celebrate what mother’s day? Have you been a good mother?” Ok, I admit that I haven’t been one…so today’s celebration is not for me… It’s for my mom!!! She’s been a good mom alright, just look at me and you’d know AHAHAHHAHAHA…. )

Incidentally Mother's day isnt until next week, so don't panic, lightning wont strike you because you have forgotten nor have you missed the celebration. We just wanted to beat the crowd and celebrate a little earlier... (also partly due to gluttony ahhaha)

We ordered the infamous signature dish - “Snow Mountain Fly Lake Fish” but was quite disappointed because I expected it to be as exquisite as it’s name… but it was just a grilled salted “kam foong” fish…And it wasn’t salty nor does it have any gravy nor does the stuffings have any effect on the taste…. But I guess it’s healthy, since it’s grilled using sea salt… It seems that every other table also ordered this fish dish.. so we thought it was good... Hmmm... so much for mass influence...

We ordered Siong Tong Lala (lala in soup) where the soup was delicious with a tinge of Chinese cooking alcohol, but the lala was a tat too small for our liking. If they were bigger, it would be better but then again, since it tasted fresh, we happily gulped down every tiny bits of it.

We didn’t order any crabs coz everyone in the family thought it’ll be messy to eat crabs .... (even prawns also ordered de-shelled ones)… so can't comment on that… But the butter fried prawns was ok. My sister told me the previous time they ordered butter prawns with gravy which tasted even better.

There’s a “jiew pai” tofu (signature tofu dish), cannot remember it’s name… which was quite special. Starchy and looks like sharks fin soup and tasted alright. The children loved it for it goes well with rice. Soft and gentle that matches their little tastebuds. The children also loved the soft crunchy young long beans with dried prawns, even though I find the beans a bit too “thin”. Taste wise was alright, not too salty and the beans were crunchy and soft.

I liked the claypot chicken .. which was soft and tender to the mouth and the pungent black sauce was great to tease the tougue.

We can't resist the food, that we forgot to take pictures BEFORE we ate! :P

Total came up to RM176 for 7 adults and 2 children. Quite cheap I suppose for the portion and the non-air conditioned restaurant. The place was already filled with people up to brim at 7pm. Forgot to consult God of Food a.k.a. LV on what to order... thus end up with ordering mediocre family type food. All in all was good, and from their menu, they seem to have loads of other choices, so definitely will go there again sometime.

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there... You deserve it.. :P

The Gym Part 3

Today, we take a sidetrack from the satirical look at the gym to a more serious view on the sudden hype that is currently sweeping across most big conglomerates. This is not surprising considering the sudden mushrooming of more outlets of the gym giants such as True Fitness, California Fitness, Fitness First, Celebrity Fitness and the likes. This, coupled with company bulk discounts and constant reminders of how unfit a deskjob worker can be, many cannot resist these too-good-to-miss offers to a healthy lifestyle at a discounted price at an outlet literally next to your office.

Even my prudent brother in law had been enticed to join, stopping only because his beloved wife wasn’t interested to join together. (The actual story was, my sister knew that he would not be disciplined enough to be a regular and didn’t want him to hang around at the gym instead of being at home ha ha.)

It's good to want to be healthy. It's good to want to take care of oneself. But you can do that anywhere, why the hype at the gym?

So what’s the catch? There really isn’t one. It’s just a matter of which lifestyle you want to upkeep.

With the amount of monthly subscription you are paying, no matter how heavily discounted, in the long run, can afford you a decent all-in-one machine to be kept at home and used at any hour at your whim and fancy. And this machine can be used by all in the family, i.e. your mother, father, uncles, aunts, grandfather, grandmothers, all cousins, twice, thrice removed, your children, grandchildren’s children, etc… oh, you’ll get the picture . And you can save on all the sports attire as you can even exercise in the nude at home. And you can even save face, as you won’t have people gawking at you and your fats or sniggering behind your back for those big trousers that you are wearing, or just plain checking you out. I can go on with more advantages of DIY at home but I guess you know what I mean.

So why are people still flocking these high profile gym? Is it a promise that you’ll slim down and tone-up? No. I have never heard of a gym that dares guarantee that. Is it the equipments are so state of the art that you can’t afford them unless you are some celebrity like Kimora? No. Most of them are just run of the mill equipments. Is it because they offer you a service you cannot get elsewhere? No, there are plenty of places where you can learn aerobics or qi gong and you get fresh air for free in the park.

So what is the motivational factor?

For some, the gym is a place to redeem yourself after a guilty and sinful corporate lunch. And also an excuse to tuck in even more sinful dinners on the pretext that you'll burn it out during your exercise sessions later.

Well, of course there are those who join to escape, even if only for a couple of hours, the suffocating noise/chores/problems at home. Especially those who don't enjoy the sudden visits from all kinds of relatives, just to use your gym equipments.

And I know of a few who join, hoping to regain their previous fit-figure and re-live their glory days.

Besides the additional group motivation to exercise and networking opportunities, I would say it’s the perceived value that one gets when you are an “exclusive member” of the club. The gym is an “in” place to see others and be seen. It’s a lifestyle thing, a social standard set to differentiate you from the rest of the “weaker” worker class because you project a picture of health and that you care for yourself.

Whatever the rhymes or reasons, I am sure you'll find one that suit your taste. Hence, to join or not to join… the choice is entirely left in your hands. But to be accepted by society or become a social outcast, that is also a choice left in your own hands… choose wisely?

*note: the author does not oppose the idea of joining a gym and this article does not provide exhaustive researched reasons for joining one. It is merely the author's simplistic views of the recent fad that has swept KL's offices by storm.

The Gym Part 2

Hmmm the guys are pretty serious about the gym stuffs. They really did go to the gym today despite heavy workload and tight schedules. Mr. MyHump even made an effort to come back from training to go gym. This seems to be a good energetic start. Mr. RealAuntieKiller doesn't think that they'll last more than a couple of months. When I lament that I'll miss my yumcha kaki, he offered to go tea session with me. I was hesistant... not used to sudden change mar...

Kee, a.k.a. Yumcha King was restless and decided to leave us and go for his 1st round with his gangster friends and then later 2nd round with his AV friends. So I stayed back, slightly dejected that I didn't have any plans for the blue Monday night. However, fortune smiled on me when MissD24 got stood up last minute and decided a shopping trip would calm her down. Even better was when the guys call us for yumcha when they were done with their sweating.. and bathing.. and whatever brokeback stuffs that they were doing at the gym...!!!

Hmmm... the guys did some weird stuffs at the gym today. LV spent the whole evening wandering around the gym, trying his hands at everything... He must be searching around for food but was greatly disappointed that there was none around. Also, he had a misconception that he gets to surf the net at the gym if he gets tired from exercising. And the shy boy didn't dare to go to the sauna room nor the shower after Friday's gay discussion (the one regarding the sauna room attire). And oh, MC really threw a soap (the one he pinched from a China Hotel) onto the floor today, to which Mr. MyHump kicked it away saying that it was too cheap for him to pick up. Instead, he showed off his Bodyshop soap and said, "Why should I pick yours when I have these, huh?"

The dejected MC said, "Ok lor, I play by myself lor. So pity."

They had this conversation in the changing room, and people eavesdropping outside, who weren't able to see the soaps, must be wondering what they were showing off to each other... hahaha.

Ironically, Kee mentioned earlier that only gays will play by themselves in the men's toilet while looking and smiling at the other guys. He was refering to how Mr. N'sync would smile dreamily at LV each time they meet at the Gents. LV protested fiercely that he's not bothered at how Mr. N'sync looked at him as he doesn't admit to being a gay magnet, but we all know that he's somewhat worried, judging from his reluctance to go to the sauna and shower with the guys today.

Oh, I also learnt a new thing that is offered at the gym today. Lock breaking service. Yes, it's not a typo, the gym does have locksmiths to help you break your locks in case of emergency. And these 3 bouffons did have an emergency today. I really dont know what goes on in the guy's changing room but it seems that these 3 funny friends of mine shared a locker, kept all their clothes in it, went shower and then later found that they had forgotten the combination of their lock. I wonder if they really had to run around in their underpants to find someone to break the lock... hahaha... (Another irony where they suggested last Friday that LV should run from the locker room to sauna in his underwear.. hahaha such coincidence)

The girls are joining the "classes" (pilates? body combat?) tomorrow and Wednesday. We'll see if there's any more updates. Oh... incidentally, they are returning to the nearby outlet because apparently, the cute guy in MidValley, was to vertically challenged for their liking. They had a hard time spotting him even though he was already standing on the stage while giving the steps classes. MissD24 says it's a waste of effort to go all the way to MidValley, just only to be able to hear his voice in class.

First Day @ The Gym (for the guys)

03 MAY 08, SAT, OFFICE- Driving was a breeze this morning… especially coupled with loose traffic and the sounds from Shanghai Divas… Reached office car park in 30 minutes flat… I did a time check as I got out from home at 8:32am, and then called MC at 8:35am (whom I can hear is still sleeping when he picked up my call even though he tried very hard to disguise his voice hahaha)… and reached the car park at exactly 9:02am. 30 minutes is considered not too bad for someone having to do "inter-state" commute every morning...

Havent been able to blog at home lately… thus hands a bit itchy. So while waiting for MC to come have breakfast (or is it brunch) together, I’ll talk a bit about "The Gym". The guys (and girls) have started gym yesterday… and boy, was it a field day for Kee and I in anticipation of what they’d be wearing, doing and seeing at the gym. It all started during lunch when MC said, “Wow, it’s been such a long time since I’ve been to a gym, I am a bit ‘kan cheong’ (excited)” … And then he also reiterated that he mustn’t do treadmill near the younger “tung yan” (a nickname for the young IT contractors who are treated almost like the Shaolin Temple’s new recruits – given ‘hell-style’ training and expected to perform in short period). He was even worried about doing treadmill next to Mr. MyHump, fearing his stamina may look pale next to those whom he thinks are “young and energetic”.

Boy, turns out, he was in for a surprise… For one, all the “tung yan” have other more exciting plans for the Friday night instead of going to the boring gym. And Mr. MyHump…. Well, let’s just say both of them are from the same era…so MC had nothing to worry about in the first place… Funny thing was, it ends up with both being totally distracted by a show-off at the treadmill who kept on flexing his muscular arms while running non-stop in front of them. Hmm, I wonder if he was flexing for MC or Mr. MyHump....

And then we talked about sharing of the bathroom. Imaginations of how the gym bathroom design was ran wild with talk of there being no doors or half doors or no locks, etc.... MC was wondering if he could “drop some soap” for Mr. MyHump to pick up during their shower together. Ahem… I am sure we all have heard of those gay activities at the gym. Now, after reading the previous sentences, you must be doubting MC’s sexual orientation. Ahahaha… Actually, cheeky MC was hoping to see if Mr. MyHump would be attacked by those big, muscular gays when he tries to pick up those soap…hahaha.. Now that’s a sight that we’d all like to see, don't we now? *wink* *wink*

And then we moved on to attire. Mr. TinLo got overly excited when asking MissD24 what she’d be wearing to the gym. You should’ve seen his aroused hamsup face when he imagined her in a sexy 2-piece gym outfit. “Are you going to wear a Wonderbra and tights? Then you’d become Wonder Woman lor. Mmm, so delicious… ” Yesterday, MissD24 and GGG didn’t go to the same gym outlet as the guys, but went all the way to MidValley instead.… which Kee and Mr. MyHump thought was because they were too embarrassed to become Wonder Woman in front of the guys, especially Lwee, who have a habit of staring at other’s “you-know-where*”. Well, actually, the girls told me the real reason was because there’s a cute guy at MidValley giving classes… nothing to do with Wonderbra or WonderWoman or Wee.

Oh, there was a debate on whether girls would share a cute guy if they see one. Well, Kee was saying, "I dont believe girls would have such "gentlemen style" as to share a cute guy. If that gym instructor was really cute, I am sure GGG wont bring MissD24 along." Hmmm... I beg to defer. Well, this is not like sharing a boyfriend, this is a cute gym instructor and he's there for all to see. Why won't we share?

And Lwee, our God of Food (who usually just accept eating as a form of exercise), surprised us all by joining the gym as well. However, he didn’t attend the “first day of gym” yesterday because he claims he was sick. Even turned down MC and Mr. MyHump’s invitation to just relax in the sauna. Ah… The sauna… another place of interest in the gym. There was a “heated” debate regarding what to wear or bring into the sauna/steam room. Mr. MyHump was wondering if his PDA could withstand the heat and humid of the steam room as he was afraid he’d be bored in the steam room to which Lwee exclaimed, “Why do you want to work even when you’re naked in the steam room? Dahsyat la you.

The IM conversation went on.

Mr. MyHump: Where got naked? Got towel… ma.
Lwee: Got towel where got fun one. Like steam not complete.
MC: Btw, Lwee, come join us for sauna. Will cure your sickness.
Lwee: No la, didn’t bring gym attire.
Mr. MyHump: No need…ma. Naked… ma.
MC: Yeah, Lwee, you can run naked from the locker straight to the sauna room.
Lwee: No lar, shy la.
Mr. MyHump: Then what you want to wear, swimming trunks?

From the above conversation, you will understand how those “gay gym stories/rumours” came about. I am quite sure that my 3 friends here are straight (for now, at least) but the above conversation seems to suggest some Brokeback activities, no?

Anyway, for the curious ones, I suppose it is not advisable to bring the PDA into the sauna, even though your PDA is shock/steam/water/heat proof. It’s for your own safety. We don’t want people to suspect you’re a pervert, taking nude pictures of others in the steam room. You’ll never know what they do to perverts… especially gay perverts… hahahaha…

Alright, that’s all for today’s bulletin of ‘first day at the gym’. I better complete some work at the office fast in order not to waste my Saturday here. We’ll see if there’s Part 2 since they plan to go again on Monday! Oh, just so you know, Kee and I am not a member of the gym... just watching and laughing at them gives us good enough exercise already.. :P

Have a "Fit" weekend....!!

I'm in love... with the Apple of my i.

Oh my goodness... I never thought that I would be brave enough to do this... To declare my love so openly... so madly... so unashamed... but I really can't contain my heart. It's leaping out of my body... all at the sight of him...

Yes, it was love at first sight... It all started at Pavilion.. when I set my eyes on this beautiful baby and he on me . Couldn't stop thinking about him day and night. Had sleepless nights pondering whether we could ever be together, whether I should sacrifice it all to bring him home...

At first I was afraid to even think about it,... afraid that we weren't compatible... afraid that I will regret when the relationship comes with a lot of problems and nobody could help me... afraid that we wouldn't complement each other because I am already so used to my current loved one... I had always been loyal, because I followed the majority, I drifted along with the society norm - staying true and loyal is the virtue everyone supported... I have never thought of changing, because I have never really tasted the good life, never really tasted the "Forbidden Apple".... until now... I have been introduced to an angel... an answer sent from up above... He's calling out to me...wanting to be mine too and just sitting there... awaiting my answer...

Finally, I am given a choice.. and I am making this choice this week. Because I am in love... Yes, I am smitten... Yes, I am shouting, unabashed, untamed, because I cannot contain my heart's desire... I can't help it.... I want you... Yes, I want you... you're the one for me... Yes, Yes, Yes...

You ... the one and only... iMac... The Apple of my i.

This desire for iMac is so great that it gave me so much mixed emotions. After that fateful night at Pavilion, I was so blinded with love. I couldn't see anything else... none of the notebooks seems to measure up to this baby... I couldn't eat well, I couldn't sleep well. (fearing the unknown and unsure about its practicallity). I was so torn, so tormented... not knowing whether if I should have it... All kinds of strange emotions that this iMac flooded me... I know it's something that I WANT to HAVE, as it's GOOD to have and COOL to have, but it's NOT a NECESSITY. Yeah, in my mind, I know that it's not a necessity but I also know that having it will bring my life to a higher level... somewhere I have never been. And the best thing is, it works with Windows. So I don't have to leave my current life behind. I can have the best of both worlds, with just one machine.... Now isn't that what everyone is hoping for? :)

Yes, it comes with a price... RM5400 for the entry level 2.0 GHz: 4MB: 20 inch iMac... but hey, who says love is cheap? But i think i am worth it.

Here's the specs I am looking at: (Entry level in Malaysia is slightly lower specs than the US one)

20-inch Display
2.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4GB Memory (Kingston KTA?)
250GBHDD
8X Double Layer Super Drive (DVD drive which can write +/- and DVD RAM)
ATI Radeon HD2400 XT with 128MB memory
1GB Network card
Wifi
Built in Airport Extreme
Built in Bluetooth
3USB port
1GB firewire
1 aluminium keyboard
1 Mighty Mouse
iLife ‘08
3 Year Apple Care worth RM609

Places I went to, to find out more about my new lover, which made me fall in love more with him....

(*note: the author has always been loyal to using a PC with Windows OS and Windows based programs, and thus finds it emotionally difficult to break from the mould and move on with an iMAC. She has no previous professional training in Mac OS or anything with the little "i" in front or with the apple logo on it. As such, this is all a new and exciting experience for her. She's hoping that by sharing these wonderful first moments, she can remind herself how it all started. This is useful should she ever regret getting an iMac later... hahaha)

Crossroads

Life is truly a maze …. That’s why it’s amazing. It’s a labyrinth that takes us through endless crossroads which we have to choose our path in order to move forward or maybe stay put and be sucked into the never ending vortex of void, sometimes known as boredom, which is born out of routine cycles.

Sometimes, there are easy and clear choices which don’t need Einstein to figure out the best option to take. However, more often than not, we’re faced with extremely challenging crossroads where the path ahead is not as clearly laid as we would like it to be. There may not be street lights (not even lanterns nor torchlight) to brighten our way and it may even be a long and winding road ahead.

So do we tread along? Or do we sit down to rest on our laurels?

When we are still young, the answer is easy…. tread along we must. We were gung ho… we have nothing to lose… We don’t wait around for opportunity to come by, we just know we must seize whatever opportunity that we get. But as we grow older, we have already achieved so much more. And the more we have, the more we risk losing. And the higher the risk, the more afraid we become of losing. Money, friends, family, loved ones, social network, face, dignity…. We stand to lose all kinds of everything….

So now the question is, how do we tread along? Do we take what seemed to be the easy road at face value or do we follow our gut feelings to follow the road less traveled? Do we evaluate every single detail option until the opportunity disappear. I dont know. I dont have the answer.

Why am I pondering about all these? Is it because I am having a quarter life crisis or something? Well I don’t know either. It could be the sudden loss of a young friend recently which triggers a lot of thinking lately. It could be the various other changes currently happening in my life which has brought me onto crossroads after crossroads which made me reconsider all the options that life has offered me and all the options that I can create for myself.

Whatever it is, the answer is always in our own hands. We may not see the answer now, but we should keep on trying to find the answer. There is always an answer to everything. It is there but somehow our senses are sometimes blurred and we can’t see the obvious answer which is starring right at us.

It is times like these that many of us slide into depression. I do not deny that I am in a very confused state of mind now but I am conscious about it and I am awake enough to tell myself not to lose control. I think a lot of people go into depression unknowingly and easily lose control. Eventually they lose themselves and end up doing foolish things. Those who are lucky live to regret about it but there are those who don’t even live long enough to regret. So, take a deep breath and try to take everything in our stride....The key is never to give up. Seek and we shall find as the answer lies right in front of us. Don’t pressure ourselves to see the answer too soon, for everything will unveil themselves when the time is ripe.

Coincidental Advantage of the Vantage Point

What seems to be a normal girl’s night turn out to be a hilarious and fun night…

We arrived earlier than scheduled so we decided to have dinner at sushi king. It was a table for 4 with 2 long sofa settees… I sat on one end of one sofa, and GGG sat on the other one. So MissD24 could choose whether to sit with me or GGG. So MissD24 said to GGG, “Let Kelly’s friend sit with her lar, unless YOU wanna sit with Kelly’s friend ha ha.”

GGG didn’t know that my friend was a guy (*) and she so arrogantly (very “Siew Sah” ) said, “I don’t mind sitting with him if he’s a guy. But if girl, no need lar…” All of us started laughing hysterically including GGG, thinking we were laughing at her statement, and then MissD24 cheekily asked me, “Should I sit with you?” …And we continued laughing….

And then later after the movie, we parted ways. GGG goes home with MissD24, and I went with my friend and both cars were at different car parks. Guess what?… Instead of my friend asking for the girls’ phone number, the 2 girls were “desperately” searching high and low for my friend’s number!!! Can you believe it!!!?? I was totally shocked when my friend suddenly passed his phone to me and said, “Nah, it’s for you..” At first I thought it was B looking for me… see see it was GGG… asking us not to leave…. telling me that she needs to meet up with us…. Immediately….Desperately…

AHhahahha….

To be fair to my girlfriends, it was actually my fault.. but honestly, I didn’t plan this at all..

I totally forgot that I conveniently took MissD24’s parking ticket for her coz she was driving and I was sitting in front as usual. So they were frantically, desperately looking for me to retrieve the parking ticket. I left my phone on silent mode because of the movie and forgot to turn it on again. So despite MissD24 calling me like 5-6 times, I couldn’t hear anything!!! So they called another colleague (very smart of them) to get my friend’s phone number…..

This morning the colleague came and laughed at them for looking high and low for my friend’s phone number… Guess it’ll be something to laugh at for a while ahahaha..
MissD24, thank you for your kind understanding in allowing me to blog this event… :P hahahah I needed your approval coz I still wanna watch movies with you.. Hahahah…

*note: I think GGG is a bit errr… "innocent"…..MissD24 and I talked about the guys not being able join us for the movies as it's difficult to get permits from spouses and she doesn’t understand what permits are… despite us explaining a few times… And then later she pretended to understand by nodding and we again laughed hysterically when we found out later that she actually didn’t understand ahahhah…
**footnote: the above event have been posted for pure merrymaking and laughs. No offence nor hurt is intended. Please read with an open mind.

Chap Goh Meh!

Just came out of the bathroom.... after some deep bowel cleansing and a shower. I wonder if it was the burger or was it the Yee Sang at my mom's place.

Lately there's been so much good food entering my tummy... Ah Yatt Abalone, Marco Polo dimsum, Nikko Hotel Dimsum, Mei Keng Fatt Seafood, Overseas' Char Siew, Ipoh's Assam house, Setiawan's Ah Pek Seafood, homecook goodies, etc etc... Feels so satisfying... Hahaha, everyone knows that I am a little gluttony when it comes to food... I derive a lot of happiness when eating good food... Feels so gratifying as we spend our hard earned money "into" ourselves hahaha...

Have been a little dry on ideas lately due to too much entertaining, angpow exchanging, CNY card playing, and of course CNY gluttony... Thus I will keep this short and simple. Enjoy the pictures though... :P (Special note: will upload pics later coz I need to visit the bathroom again.. *bummer*)
Oh, oh... Incidentally today is the "Valentine's Day" in the lunar calendar... Happy Valentine's day to all the lovers out there... May you find abundance sweetness in your lover year after year ..... (doesn't it sound like some CNY greeting? ahaha.. it's totally intentional AHHAHAA)

CNY Ipoh trip

FEB 10 SAT: It’s Chinese New Year again… time for fun and merriment of sorts, food and drinks galore, gathering and gossiping, and not forgetting lanterns and fireworks in abundance….

This year, without much preparation, we took a trip to Ipoh and Setiawan, just to sample the food there after hearing so much from colleagues…Everything was ad-hoc, where to meet and time was decided last minute, less than 15 hours before the actual trip itself…. Nevertheless it was an exciting experience for us…. And especially for Bryan....It was a great way to get him to see the greeneries and animals in the sub-urbs instead of being glued to the computer all day… He wasn’t too keen to leave his video games at first until I told him that there’s be 3 friends with better computer games, waiting for him in Ipoh…

Bryan has no idea what Ipoh is but it’s some where far…. So he was excited. And when we reached Tesco Extra Ipoh, Bryan saw the word Ipoh next to the Tesco sign board. He immediately associated Ipoh with Tesco. So now he thinks Tesco is Ipoh and Ipoh is Tesco, and keep telling me that he wants to go to Ipoh, thinking it’s a Ipoh is a supermarket where he can buy his Spiderman and Final Battle Gameset toys. OMG Help!!!! How do I explain what’s “Ipoh” to him…???? HAHAHAHAHA

Anyway, we found the Ipoh guy, Kee and proceeded to have lunch at Assam House…. MC was a little disappointed that his "weird taste pork hands" was no longer served in that restaurant as the restaurant has turned Halal. Food was okay only compared to those in KL (only the Sambal Kerabu and the Curry Hawaiian Muscle was worth mentioning).

We proceed to Kees house to rest for a while and complete the Chinese New Year tradition of visiting… Sorry Kee, we’re so embarrassed that we brought only “bananas” as we weren’t prepared for visitations ahahhaah…… Kee and family were nice and welcomed us warmly… Bryan warmed up quickly to his 3 little friends too..

As time didn’t allow us to hang around in Ipoh for too long, we proceed embark on our next destination - Setiawan for dinner. Journey was long with lots of traffic lights… the only highlight was when I showed Bryan a bunch of water buffalos. He’s never seen black cows before, so he asked innocently, “Why are they black? Venom attacked them ah?” AHAHAHAH… I bursts out laughing at his silly yet logical association …. Hahahahah Spiderman became black after being attacked by venom so it’s only logical to think that the cows became black if they were attacked by Venom hahahaha…

Dinner time came and we found LP who kindly brought us to Kampung Koh to sample their seafood. We wanted to Lou Sang but the restaurant doesn’t serve it… *bummer*…. We had a whole table of seafood, Fish, Prawn and Crabs… with oysters, sotong too… quite a sumptious dinner.. but still room for improvement tastewise… Anyhow, it's the company that counts. We had a superb meal because everyone was in such high spirits and joked about anything

Bryan keep asking me to bring him to the beach and thus we adjourned to Lumut beach for some final sightseeing. If you’re expecting sand and beach, then you’re in for some disappointment. (*Special Note: Yesterday I asked Bryan whether he wants to go to the Lumut beach again; the place where he can play with those dolphins statues and run around in the park beside the port. He replied bluntly, “But Mom, I don’t like to play with statues, I want some REAL DOLPHINS.” HAHAHAHAHAHA … and I thought I could trick him into some cheap alternatives ahahah..)

The day ended there for me as a very tired Bryan unwind to sleep in the car after some milo. But I heard Kee, MC and LV were still on the move. They went back to Ipoh hoping to get some more goodies such as “Salted Chicken”, “Ipoh Hor Fun”, “Ipoh White Coffee”, “Ipoh Taugeh Chicken Rice” ..etc…. However, to their disappointment, Ipoh was infested with tourist on that day and everything was sold out!!! They looked everywhere for food until around 1 am and had to settle for some imitation Ho Fun… CMC says the imitation white coffee was still good… Hmmm not sure if he was just saying that to lessen Kee’s guilt on his inability to bring his fellow friends to sample all the infamous food…. Ahhahaha… We can see Kee tries pretty hard to please everyone and was hoping his fellow buddies could stay the night to accompany him longer…. (Kee must have been pretty bored in Ipoh to be so desperate for MC and LV's companionship....)

Time flies when we’re having fun… it was indeed a very fun trip despite us spending most of the quality time in the car. We had joy, we had fun…. And we just cant wait till the next makan trip… :P

Thank you Kee and LP for such a wonderful time. And thank you LV and CMC for such a silly funny good time....

New Year Resolutions

Guess what... It's that time of the year again! I found something in MSN which I think is quite interesting. The article suggested 5 simple resolutions to make for the new 2008 so that we dont disappoint ourselves year after year by making silly unachievable resolutions; like "I wanna lose 10 pounds" or "I wanna make 1,000,000 pounds"... Yeah, we're all culprits of making and breaking our own promises....

So, here's 5 simple resolutions which can be quite easy to commit to; and they're good for both your state of mind and the state of your union. And they're so painless (even pleasurable) that they won't be just a memory by Labour Day.

1) Cook More Often

2) Revamp your wardrobes

3) Book a Do-Nothing Vacation

4)Stop Having Sex in Your Bed

5)Support His Guys'/ Her Girls' Nights Out

Hmmm, I think I'll improvise a little further.... I'll take item 2 and 3 and let Mr. Big B will do item 1 and 5. And we'd both do option 4 together. Good idea, huh? What do you all think? hahahahaha *wink* *wink*
Have a smashing, wonderful, and Happy New Year..... irregardless what resolutions you decided to make or break.... :P

The K-Gang

Went to karaoke again, by popular demand of the K-gang. For RM36.80*, you could eat, drink and be merry ….and see quite a lot of things….

It was hell of a fun night (even though I sang a few songs less due to numerous calls from office regarding a batch job error)… laugh until I had stomach ache (serious, but was fine after a cup of hot milo)… I am broke, but I am happy… Err....can I pay later? (Mr My Hump: Haha nice try...)

Thank you for being my friends, y’all. You certainly painted my life colourful.

*Pay to Mr. My Hump.

Here's a rollcall for those who went:

Mr. Beauty Pageant Winner: Carefully paced himself to eat and drink first before singing “impact songs”. Great voice after a few drinks. However, tend to sing very sad and old songs. After heeding advice from Mr. Hacken Lee fan, he can sing a “break-up” song while jumping and clapping happily. Have to become the “lips” for Miss Wrong Lyrics as she depends on the movement of his lips to sing those Chinese songs. He must be thinking Miss Wrong Lyrics must be deaf or something. Well, he’s right, she’s tone-deaf.

Mr. Hacken Lee Fan: Can sing any song – in and out of key. He can sing duet – with both guys and girls. He even sing both the guys and girls part… He learnt a new thing yesterday that the “red” lyrics are actually meant for female singing. He is allergic to old songs – self denial that he’s an oldie himself.

Mr. My Hump: Practiced the song My Hump since the last karaoke session and can finally sing the whole song rapping non stop. Enjoyed singing all those X-rated songs such as Girlfriend, Doncha, Fergalicious, London Bridge but denied that he chose those songs. Hello- the songs don’t just get chosen by themselves, ok…
Also manage to sing a Chinese song which he had practiced very hard – “Special Love for Special You” although you can only hear him singing the first line of the chorus while the rest of the song is a drone coz he forgot most of the lyrics…

Mr. Shy Guy aka Bachelor Boy: Can sing a lot of songs well but chose to be quiet, hoping to project a strong silent type image and also to hide his true age. However, when he sang Cliff Richard songs (probably trying to follow his footsteps to be an evergreen Bachelor Boy)… everyone could guess his age. Mr. Shy Guy caused Mr. Hacken Lee Fan to sneeze non stop due to the “dust” emitted by old songs.

Miss D24: Didn’t sing the whole night except for some humming and lip synching. I suppose she cannot kick the office habit of humming and lip synching . She wanted to sing “Green Green Grass of Home” for Miss GGG but is too shy. She needs more K sessions to build her confidence.

Miss GGG: She’s green but definitely not raw in singing, being able to sing all the current hits. Conjured up a fan club right after she stepped into the K box. Can duet with Mr. Beauty Pageant Winner and Mr Hacken Lee Fan nicely – that’s after Hacken Lee Fan learnt not to sing her part as well. She complained that she hasn’t heard of most of the songs that Mr. My Hump and Mr. Beauty Pageant Winner sang. So you know the generation gap there…

Miss Wrong Lyrics (Yours truly): Learnt some new Chinese words. All these while she’s been singing Chinese songs to wow her non-Chinese speaking friends not knowing that she has got the lyrics ALL WRONG. Created hell lots of jokes due to all the wrong lyrics, much to the chagrin of the people hearing her singing as wrong lyrics is just as bad as bad song pitching. She definitely must update the lyrics in her PDA.
Oh, this lady doesn’t really need the lyrics from the Karaoke projector TV because she reads the pinyin lyrics from her PDA phone. She probably needs myopic glasses soon due to too much stress in reading the fine letters.

And here is the one who didn't go:

Mr. Aeroplane Jet: We learnt a new thing today – The Aeroplane Mode function on your PDA phone. When you decide to “fei kei” (stand up) your friends on an appointment, you can just press this function and it’ll send a message automatically to all the people in the forum to indicate that your “jet” has arrived. Mr. Aeroplane Jet stood us up last minute telling us that he has forgotten all about our outing. Hrrrmmmppfff shows how important we are… Well, still okay lar, at least this time he remembered his manners and informed us. Well, the K-gang still insist that they want me to “sing” bad you in my blog….muahahaha

And here are some who wanted so badly to go but couldn't make it:

Mr. K-Desirer: Want to sing K day and night. Day Day ask us to organize K session. Even suggest K-Lunch but we are not professionals and have no prior formal training, so we can’t K so much. Mr. K-Desirer is a living example of a person who cannot get the things he desired too much. This is the 2nd time we organized a K-session but he is away on business trip. So we know he'll have to sing these 2 songs in the next K-session - “Desperado” (English) and “Ming Lui Yau See Chung Sui Yau” (If you are destine to have something in life, you’ll get it eventually) (Cantonese by Sam Hui)

*Note: Don’t worry lar, there’s still 2.5 bottles of liquor waiting for you. We’ll definitely have another K-session- just for you. (coz Mr Beauty Pageant Winner says that he cant shine without you.. muahahah)

Mr. Football Drunken Master: He was too drunk to join us because he was beaten like Liverpool* and Chelsea**. KO after being beaten by other fellow players.. err… drinkers on Sunday night after the 2 Premier League games. I think his initial ambition was to be a goalie coz I heard that he was found drunk - lying curled up in front of his back door, beside the trash bin – much like a goalie after a great penalty catch. Hmmm.. we now know what he must be dreaming of then – but his wife dreams were cut short when she had to retrieve him from the trash. Wonder where he slept for the rest of the night… Must have been a hard night since he had to call in sick….hahahahahah

*Liverpool vs MU 0-1
**Chealsea vs Arsenal 0-1

Ota sensei is leaving Malaysia for good? Shocking!

Just gave a casual call to Ota sensei today as I was in the vincity after watching Enchanted in Pavilion and what a shock to hear that she was leaving Malaysia for good! And next week too! She's just soooo hardworking. She's leaving on Saturday night, only after her last class in the afternoon of that Saturday itself!!! I have not seen a teacher more dedicated than that!

Anyway, I was really glad I gave her the call, and thus able to meet up with her for coffee.... It wasn't tearful or emotional or anything like that... but the news left me with a heavy heart knowing the person who taught me how to speak Japanese - who was strict enough to ensure I have a strong foundation in reading and writing (she punishes us for the slightest mistakes in writing and grammar, thus making us remember well) would not be as a phone call anymore...

Ota sensei, thank you for everything that you have done for us... you're the best Japanese teacher I have ever met,... and all the best in everything you do... I wish you every happiness and hope that you'd find your prince in shining amour soon ... :P

Karaoke Keng... (Farewell to our friend...)

Thank You very much, Peter for the fun time at BTS Neway... We wanted to repay you with some songs, but you had to leave early.. awwwwwwwwww.... In fact, almost all the songs which we sang after you left, were dedicated to you:

1) LKS & Patrick - My Hump and Fantasy

2) Kelly & Chee Keen - Harlem Yu's "It's fated (that we met u)"

3) Deric and Lwee - The Eason and Vivian Chow song - "Love you too late"

Till the next time, Farewell old friend...
